Layering Necklaces Makes a Big Style Statement

Go for it – More is more when you pile on your favorite necklaces.

There's Necklace Magic Waiting in Your Jewelry Box.

Turning to bold chunky necklaces these days, and leaving more delicate styles in the bureau? You're not alone. But don't give up on your older necklaces! By layering several styles together strategically, you'll enjoy a result greater than the sum of its parts.

Here are some tips:
  • Vary lengths – Mix shorter, finer chains with longer, thicker ones. Double longer strands to get the look you want.
  • Get charmed – An easy look is a shorter pendant with a longer graduated bead chain. Or go for a theme, with the same or similar shapes hanging from different-length chains.
  • Color your world – Take basic to bold with color gemstones and pearls mixed in. Drape bright primaries together or keep it soft with colors in the same family.
  • Link it together – Up your mixing game with chains of different link styles and lengths. Don't be shy about mixing metals; multi-strand necklaces can also imitate this style. Add in lariat necklaces for length and visual interest.

Whatever You Do, Have Fun!

Deep necklines frame your jewelry beautifully, but high collars on shirts and blouses can provide dramatic backdrops, too. Let shorter charm or pendant necklaces peek out; dress up a basic V-neck or tee shirt with layers of chains.

Remember, "rules" are made to be broken. So combine heavier necklaces. Mix collar-styles with slightly longer lengths. Go for the unexpected and express your style. You may never settle for just one necklace again.
