Responsible Diamond Origins

Confidence in Conflict-free Sourcing

Before a Zales diamond makes its way to you, it has made a journey that spans millions of years and thousands of miles. It's our responsibility to ensure that each step along the way is taken responsibly—so that you feel good about the diamonds you wear. The diamonds we sell are always 100% conflict-free.

Our Promise to You

As a leading retailer of diamond jewelry, we know we must lead by example. When you purchase a diamond from Zales, you can rest assured our jewelry is made with integrity, sourced from a supply chain held to the highest standards.

Our parent company, Signet Jewelers, is a founding and certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), an organization committed to promoting ethical human rights, social, and environmental practices throughout the jewelry supply chain. We do the right thing, even when nobody's looking. This means:

We Respect Human Rights

We avoid actions that may directly or indirectly finance armed conflict and human rights violations around the world, including in the Democratic Republic of Congo and its adjoining countries.

All of our suppliers are required to adhere to Responsible Sourcing Protocols, which ensures none of the gold (or tin, tungsten, or tantalum) we sell contributes to conflict anywhere in the world. All of our global suppliers must comply with these protocols, which are recognized by leading international organizations.

We Take Responsibility Seriously

A responsible supply chain is fundamental to the reputation of the jewelry industry as a whole. That’s why we're committed to caring for our planet and our people through responsible sourcing up and down our supply chain.

Our suppliers respect the Fundamental Conventions of the International Labour Organization and the UN Declaration of Human Rights, and we're leaders in dealing directly with civil society and governments through the Responsible Jewellery Council.

We Care about Community

At Zales, we work hard to support safe labor practices and create thriving communities. One of our proudest examples: Our work with the Diamond Development Initiative.

Schools are often located far from mining communities, so children might miss out on formal education. Through their "Sending Schools to Kids" initiative, the DDI is sending schools to them, taking children from the mine to the classroom and providing uniforms, school materials, and daily meals.

We also support Diamonds Do Good, whose mission helps enrich the lives of people in the communities all along the diamond supply chain. As a leader in the international natural diamond industry, we're proud of the work we've done with this nonprofit — funding educational programs that develop and empower people in natural diamond communities.

It's one way the diamond industry gives back to the communities in diamond- and gem-producing countries around the world.

Always Striving

We're proud of these commitments, but know there is always more to do. Our promise to you: continual improvement to the way we do business, care for our planet and our communities, so that your diamond jewelry is beautiful in every possible way.
